Description
Historic Fishing Pier In Portugal I
Photograph By Marco Oliveira
The Carrasqueira Palafitte Pier is a masterpiece of popular architecture. Dating back to the 1950s and 1960s, the pier is entirely built on uneven and seemingly fragile wooden stilts and stretches for hundreds of meters into the muddy estuary of the Sado river, serving as a dock for fishing boats.
Located in Setubal, Portugal, it became a tourist attraction and is one of the most visited sites in the county. Despite its popularity, the pier continues to fulfill the mission for which it was built: to allow the access of fishermen to their boats and to the small stilt houses which serve as storage rooms.

Great capture of the worn and unsteady pier and pilings with the added splash of color from the boat!

It might be an historic fishing pier but I don't know if I would trust it to fish from! :) Wonderful find and capture!
